Overview
The M35A2 is the US Armed Forces’ logistics truck in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam — confirmed from audio data in the closed beta build. The M35A2 delivers supply drops to forward positions, enabling Officers to build Garrisons and Forward Positions and Engineers to construct defensive emplacements. Without regular supply runs, US spawn infrastructure degrades and defensive construction stalls.
Supply Drop — Confirmed Values
| Value | Amount |
|---|---|
| Supplies per drop | 150 |
| Garrison cost (blue territory) | 50 supplies |
| Garrison cost (red territory) | 100 supplies |
| NVA tunnel cost | Free — no supply cost |
Each supply drop from the M35A2 delivers 150 supplies. A single drop funds three Garrisons in blue territory or one and a half in red. Coordinating supply runs with Officer garrison plans is the Support role’s core responsibility.
Why Supply Runs Matter
The US has no free spawn infrastructure equivalent to the NVA tunnel network. Every Garrison, every Forward Position, every defensive emplacement the US builds costs supplies. Those supplies come from the M35A2.
A US team that neglects logistics will find its spawn infrastructure collapsing mid-match as supplies run dry and Officers have nothing to build with. A US team with regular supply runs keeps its spawn network healthy, Engineers building, and Officers focused on the fight rather than supply coordination.
Driver Responsibilities
The M35A2 driver (typically the Support role) is responsible for:
- Coordinating drop locations with the Officer before leaving base
- Choosing routes that avoid likely ambush positions
- Dropping supplies close to build sites — not requiring Officers to walk to the drop
- Returning to base for resupply and running again — logistics is a continuous cycle
- Protecting the truck from enemy AT fire on route
Vulnerability
The M35A2 is an unarmoured logistics vehicle. It is destroyed by:
- AT rockets and mines
- Tank fire
- Heavy machine gun fire at close range
- Patrol boat weapons on river crossings
Route selection matters. Avoid predictable roads near contested areas, use terrain for cover on approach to forward positions, and coordinate with your Officer to confirm the route is clear before committing.
NVA Equivalent
The NVA operates their own truck variant for logistics. While the M35A2 is US-specific, both factions rely on ground logistics vehicles for supply runs — the asymmetry is in the tunnel network giving NVA free spawn infrastructure, not in the absence of trucks.
Strengths
- 150 supplies per drop — funds multiple Garrison builds
- Enables all US build-dependent infrastructure
- Single driver can run repeated supply cycles
- Essential to US team performance across all maps
Weaknesses
- Unarmoured — vulnerable to AT, tanks, and heavy weapons
- No jeeps or halftracks — slower overall logistics compared to original HLL
- Predictable routes make it an ambush target
- Destroyed truck delays the entire team’s build capability
