What platforms is the game on?

Is it coming to PS4 or Xbox One?

Is there a physical edition?

Yes — physical disc editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X release on August 4, 2026. There is no physical PC edition.

Is this a standalone game or DLC?

It is a fully standalone game. You do not need to own the original Hell Let Loose to play. The two games are separate products.

Beta

Is there a beta?

Yes. A free open beta runs from May 29 to June 1, 2026 on Steam (PC only). Registration is required via the official FirstLook platform at hellletloose.com/enlist. Access is rolled out in phases, so register as early as possible.

What's in the beta?

The beta features one map — Thanh Hóa Bridge — and access to all headline new mechanics: helicopters (US), tunnel building (NVA), patrol boat combat, and jungle combat systems. Progress does not carry over to the full game.

Is the beta on console?

No. The open beta is PC (Steam) only. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players will not have beta access.

See the full Open Beta Guide for times, access instructions, and tips.

Cross-Play

Is there cross-play between PC and console?

Yes, cross-play is a confirmed launch feature — but it is optional, not forced. Servers are clearly tagged as cross-platform, PC only, or console only. You choose when you pick a server. Server owners can also configure platform permissions on their server.

Is there cross-play between PS5 and Xbox?

Cross-play between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is confirmed as part of the cross-platform server system. Console players can play together or separately from PC, depending on the server settings.

Editions & Pricing

How much does the game cost?

See the full Editions & Pricing page for a breakdown of what's included in each edition.

Is there a pre-order bonus?

Yes. Both editions include the US Army Boat Crew Uniform as a pre-order bonus — cosmetic only, no gameplay advantage.

Is there a PS5 loyalty discount?

Yes. Players who previously purchased Hell Let Loose on PlayStation Store receive a 10% discount on the Deluxe Edition pre-order price.

Gameplay

Is there a single-player campaign?

No. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is multiplayer-only. There is no campaign, no bot matches, and no offline mode.

How many players per match?

Each match is 50 vs 50 — 100 live players total. Players are divided into squads of roughly six, each led by a Squad Leader, with one Commander per team.

What factions are in the game?

Two factions: the US Armed Forces and the North Vietnamese Army (including NVA regular forces and Viet Cong). Each faction has unique asymmetric mechanics — US forces have helicopters; the NVA can construct tunnel networks.

How many maps are at launch?

Six large-scale maps launch on June 18. Only one — Thanh Hóa Bridge — has been named ahead of release. All maps are inspired by real Vietnam War locations and operations. Additional maps will be added post-launch via updates.

How many classes/roles are there?

17 specialised roles across six battlefield unit types: Command, Infantry, Recon, Armour, Helicopter, and Mortar Squad. Some sources cite 19 — the exact number will be confirmed at launch.

Are helicopters really flyable?

Yes. Helicopters are a confirmed, player-controlled feature for the US faction. This is a first for the Hell Let Loose series. The Pilot role operates the aircraft; the Logistics Officer manages payloads. See the Helicopter Operations guide.

What are tunnels?

Tunnels are an NVA-exclusive mechanic. NVA players can construct underground tunnel networks that provide hidden spawn points, allowing NVA forces to emerge behind enemy lines. See the Tunnel Warfare guide.

Is there a tutorial?

Yes. The game includes a tutorial specifically designed to ease in new players — this is a first for the series, which previously had no formal onboarding. See the New Player Guide for additional help.
