Overview
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam introduces a vehicle seat selection wheel — a quality-of-life improvement that lets players choose their seat before entering a vehicle, rather than boarding and then swapping through positions one by one.
How It Works
When approaching a friendly vehicle, a selection wheel appears showing the available crew positions — driver, gunner, commander slot, loader, door gun, and so on depending on vehicle type. You pick your intended seat before pressing the board key.
Why It Matters
In the original Hell Let Loose, boarding any vehicle put you in whatever seat was available first, then required you to manually swap through positions until you reached the one you wanted. In a 50-player game with limited vehicles, this cost precious seconds and created confusion in crew communication.
The seat selection wheel means:
- Tankers can ensure the right person sits in the right position before moving
- Helicopter crews — Pilot and Logistics Officer — can coordinate before lift-off
- Patrol boat crews can assign gunner and driver roles cleanly
- Less friendly-fire risk from uncoordinated boarding
Part of the Broader QoL Overhaul
Seat selection is one of several confirmed quality-of-life improvements in HLL: Vietnam alongside:
- Enhanced player movement — improved in-battle functionality
- Revamped tutorial and onboarding — better new player experience
- Updated interface and UX — modernised HUD and menus
These are all part of the engine upgrade to Unreal Engine 5 and a conscious decision by Expression Games to address long-standing community requests from the original game.
