Role Overview
Officers are the link between the Commander and the troops. An Officer directs their unit and ensures unit cohesion. Sometimes an Officer will be responding to Commander directives — other times they will be reacting to battle dynamics on the ground. A good decision can save your entire unit.
A crucial aspect of the Officer role is the ability to place Outposts, Garrisons, and Forward Positions. These allow your unit (Outposts) and the whole team (Garrisons and Forward Positions) to deploy from these structures. It’s vital that Outposts are placed near the frontline so fallen troops can get back to their unit quickly.
Garrison placement should be liaised with your Commander and other Officers. It’s often advantageous to spread Garrison locations out — to spot the enemy’s hidden movements and limit the chance of an ambush.
Communication and usage of markers is essential when playing Officer, both to the Commander and to your unit. Officers can place markers on the map, but for their unit only.
Spawn Infrastructure — The Core Responsibility
Without spawn infrastructure, your unit walks from the main base after every death. That is the single most punishing state a unit can be in.
Outposts — squad-level spawn points. Place them near the frontline so your unit can get back into the fight immediately after dying. These are your responsibility to maintain.
Garrisons — team-wide spawn points. Placement should be coordinated with your Commander and other Officers. Spread them across the map rather than clustering them — spread coverage spots enemy movement and reduces the risk of a single ambush wiping out all spawn options.
Forward Positions — team-wide spawn points for aggressive pushes. Use these to push the front forward when your unit is advancing.
Strengths
- Places Outposts for unit-level spawning — without you, your unit walks from base
- Places Garrisons and Forward Positions for team-wide deployment
- Bidirectional comms (unit ↔ command channels)
- Places markers on the tactical map for your unit
- Versatile loadout — solid primary, sidearm, and utility
Weaknesses
- Heavy responsibility — your unit’s effectiveness depends on your decisions
- Requires constant communication; not a role for muted players
- High target priority for enemy snipers and infantry
- Mentally demanding over long matches
Best Playstyle
Lead from just behind the front line — close enough to push with your unit, far enough back to place spawns safely. Your job is the spawn → push → consolidate → spawn cycle. Mark enemies, communicate objectives, and never let your spawn infrastructure go unattended.
Respond to your Commander when they issue directives, but also react independently when the situation demands it. A good Officer reads the battle and acts — they do not wait to be told what is already obvious.
Teamwork Tips
- Establish comms with your unit in the first 30 seconds of a match
- Liaise with your Commander and other Officers on Garrison placement — spread them, don’t cluster them
- Place Outposts in cover: treelines, building interiors, behind rocks — never on open hillsides
- If two Officer units converge on one point, talk to the other Officer — coordinate, don’t compete for the same ground
- Use your marker tool consistently — your unit can only see what you mark
- React to Commander directives promptly; they have the macro view you don’t
Recommended Loadout
A solid primary suited to your expected engagement range, a sidearm, binoculars for spotting and marking, and smoke grenades for covering your unit’s pushes and withdrawals. Exact loadout options will be confirmed and added here after launch.
Advanced Tactics
- Pre-placed Outposts: get your Outpost down before the first contact, not during it. A spawn placed in a firefight is almost always in bad cover
- Coordinate Garrison spread with other Officers: if three Officers stack Garrisons on the same sector, the enemy finds all three at once. If they’re spread, losing one still leaves the team with options
- Read Commander directives actively: when the Commander calls an ability — air strike, supply drop, artillery — time your unit’s push to coincide with it
- Withdraw spawn infrastructure before it’s found: if the enemy is pushing through your position, pull back and re-place before they stumble across your Outpost and camp it
