Overview
The Type 56 is the Chinese-manufactured AK-47 variant carried in vast numbers by NVA and Viet Cong forces during the Vietnam War, and the confirmed standard primary for most NVA classes in HLL: Vietnam.
A notable confirmed difference from the US M16: the bayonet attachment is available from level 1 for most NVA classes, rather than requiring level progression to unlock.

Recoil
To be documented after launch. Real Type 56 recoil is heavier than the M16 due to the larger cartridge — expect the in-game weapon to follow the same logic.
Effective Range
The 7.62×39mm round is most effective at short to medium range (under 300m). Bullet drop is significant beyond that. In dense jungle this matches the actual engagement distances perfectly.
Pros
- Larger 30-round magazine vs M16’s 20
- Heavier round = more damage per hit
- Bayonet from level 1 — instant CQB capability
- Reliable and forgiving
- Wide class availability
Cons
- More recoil than the M16
- Drops off faster at long range
- Less precise at semi-auto distance work
Usage Tips
- Full-auto is more viable than on the M16 due to larger magazine
- Two-round bursts at medium range
- Use the bayonet for ambush kills in dense foliage — close-quarters Vietnam terrain is made for it
- Sound profile is distinctive — enemy will recognise NVA fire signatures
Comparisons
The Type 56 is the NVA counterpart to the M16. The two are similar in role but differ in feel: Type 56 hits harder and reloads to a bigger magazine, but M16 has tighter recoil at distance.
Meta Notes
Expect the Type 56 to dominate close-jungle and tunnel-exit engagements. Bayonet meta may be more aggressive on the NVA side simply because of the level-1 unlock.
